I've been so busy the last few days that I have had no time to do anything on the site. But I have to get it up and running, so I gave it a very basic design and got it online.
You can check it out at Surname Certificates - OK, I know […]

Spent an hour this morning getting the foundation of the site in place.  I went to the HTML Layout page and chose a suitable layout, then I integrated the search facility and the paypal button.  Also the image swapping.
All seems to work OK, so the next job is to make the site look better.  To […]

Because I'm going to offer 2 or 3 different style of paper, I want the customer to be able to choose and see the paper they are buying. My initial idea was to just have the 3 styles on the page - job done.
Then I thought how cool it would be to have the […]

Obviously a printed surname certificate needs to be printed on something!  Plain white paper will do, but it's possible to buy pre-printed paper which is made by a company called "Deca Dry".
I ended up getting mine from my local stationers and from the local hobby/craft shop.  I'm also going to order in some specialist paper […]

Just a short note to remind myself of a good idea I had.
Once the "surname search" is coded, I want to try to link it into a twitter feed (so the tweets automatically appear). I found a Twitter PHP class at http://twitter.slawcup.com/twitter.class.phps which might do the job.
Eg (on Twitter);  Someone just successfully searched for the […]

As I already mentioned I already used to run a surname site, so I have some knowledge of the available software.  As I recall the software I used to use was Australian in origin and it was fairly good.  But for this new site I want to use something different.  A little bit of research […]

Today I did not have time for any more work on the new website.  But my plans are formulating…
Website
First stop will be to go to the Layout Gala to get a pre-made design template.  I will use this as a base and come up with some graphics and layout ideas to make it more pretty.
For […]
