Brand/Business Protection

Thinking about our web ventures in an idle moment this morning set me wondering about brand/business protection and what as a minimum you need in place. Frankly I'm not sure!

Over the last few years we've built two successful online businesses that continue to grow steadily. Currently we own the .co.uk domain names but naievly didn't purchase the generic TLDs when we set out. We are still trying to get them but no joy yet. Neither businesses are 'limited' but its going that way in terms of size/turnover etc. So at the moment we have a couple of successful businesses covered by just a domain name - surely  not enough?

What else should we be doing to protect these ventures - or am I worrying unnecessarily?

Interested to hear what you guys do….

If you're making any serious money from a brand, you should probably contact a lawyer about protecting it. For other projects that aren't so reliant on the brand, I wouldn't worry about it.

is it possible to register a brand, and how easy it to do it on an international scale?
