Website Layout Idea
I thought that some readers might be interested in a super-simple little website layout that I made yesterday. The site in question is www.pxcloaker.info and it's a website that has a very small number of pages and not an awful lot of info.
The website has three aims
- Give away a free product
- Build a mailing list
- Sell an "upsell", subtly.
Here's the Schematic

As you can see the site has 5 pages (in the schematic, you can see that these pages are outlined in red), there are the 3 obvious ones;
- Index - a simpe welcome page
- Download - where I get email address
- Upgrade - where buyers can upgrade to "pro" if they want to
These three are all publically available, and interlink to each other.
Thank You Page
Then there is a 4th page, that is only available after a person upgrades to the "pro" version. This is the;
- Thank You - a simple thank you
An extra page - download free product
The site also has 1 extra page, which is the actual page with the download link. This is slightly different to the rest of the pages, as it does not exist! This page is only created AFTER a signup at Aweber, and is TEMPORARY. In this way, I can be sure that no-one will accidentally find the download page, and that it will not be accidentally spidered by Google and the like.
This is done using a tiny PHP script that I came up with a couple of weeks ago. And it seems to work well. After 1 hour, the temporary page is auto-deleted from the website.
Relying on external sites
As the schematic shows, I rely on two external sites, shown in blue.
- Aweber - this powers the mailing list.
- Digital Product Delivery - this powers the "upsell".
I'm not bothered about relying on these two external sites - uptime on both services is near enough 100% - and for a free (and low priced) product, it's just fine.
What the schematic does not show is reliance on a third site - Paypal. Obviously I need to take payment before sending a download link, but this is taken care at the Digital Product Delivery step.
Conclusion
A super-simple little website layout, that might work well for you if you have a digital product to sell. If you are interested in such a script, let me know and I can make it available. You will need;
- PHP Hosting Account
- Digital Product Delivery (DPD) Account
- Aweber Account (or any other mailing list setup)
- Paypal Account (or any other that DPD accept)
Remember also, that DPD is now offering a FREE account which gives you the ability to sell a digital product easily and without fuss. Linked to this little script that I have gives a nice way to start building a good online business.
Good luck!

Hi Burt,
Incredible idea! I'd love to try it if you'd be willing to make it available. Is there any chance it could be modified to work with a digital delivery system like Click2sell? http://seeknulfind.join.click2sell.eu
Regards,
Andy
