What is a ProBlogger? A PROfessional or a PROstitute?
I've not really been able to accurately determine exactly what a "ProBlogger" is. I'm thinking that it is a person who blogs (most likely on many different blogs about a range of subjects). On these blogs is monetisation such as chitika, adsense, link ads, banner sales and all the rest of it.
And money earned from those monetisation methods goes towards the income of the "pro blogger".
Is that a near enough description of a "Pro Blogger"?
I really have no idea. Anyone care to explain? Here's two;
- PROfessional BLOGGER
- PROstitute BLOGGER
In the past day or two, I've seen a few posts about the pro's and con's of being a Pro Blogger, and wondered exactly what it means. I'm not really going to go into that debate, as like most debates, the parties don't really have the required data in order to form a judgment on what anyone else is doing.
I've already written in this blog about the pro's and con's of being a self employed internet entrepreneur, anyone interested enough can start searching
- Do I Blog. Yes.
- Do I earn money online. Yes.
- Am I self employed. Yes.
Am I a Pro Blogger?
The answer is patently NO. All of my blogs carry no (or next to none) forms of monetisation and are written without the thought of earning money from them.
So just what do I call myself? That is the question.
Interweb Entrepreneur
That'll do
I really wouldn't like to be seen as someone who only writes in order to make money - it's not what I am about. I have so many other sites, products, ideas that earn me a great income - though it's been hard work over the past 4 or 5 years to build up multiple sites producing that income. Blogging is just a way for me to let off steam, to get some thoughts written down and to help others to see things from a different angle.

Apparently I don't work on line, My mother in law always asks "Is Paul still playing online?".
I have been under the impression that direct monetization of blogs usually brings in little direct cash. I haven't put any monetization on my blog, I don't even charge for doing a review!
I have seen some blogs that say they will review your product for $200+ , I for one instantly worried about the honesty of the reviews if they are being paid.

Paul, that's my experience also. Perhaps these "pro bloggers" are making moeny elsewhere and then counting it in their "I made $xyz from blogging" statements…
