Digital Product Delivery - a core component of AIS

Selling digital products is a great business to be in. Once you have created the actual product, it's easy to set up as an AIS - in other words the ability to let the product sell itself, deliver itself etc without you having to manually make any interventions.

Clearly any AIS will depend upon 3 things;

  1. A product to sell
  2. A way to accept payment
  3. A method of delivery

In this post, I want to talk about point 3, methods of delivery. When I first started out selling digital products I sent them all by email - this was of course a mistake and I soon realised this. Email is unreliable and buyers had to wait until I sent the email to get their product. I had to look at something else to automate this…

I tried 2 or 3 different solutions (including the now defunct "dotwidget" and also defunct "eliteweaver").

Recently I've started using the services of Digital Product Delivery

Digital Product Delivery (DPD) is a service set up by Jason Chance and his partner to plug a gap in the market - an affordable, and easy to use solution for delivering digital products.

I've been beta-testing the application for a number of months and can tell you that it has evolved from something that was really quite simplistic into a service which has the potential to be #1 for digital product delivery.

What I like about it

1. It is ultra simple to use. It takes 2 minutes to set up a product, ready for sale. The actual dashboard is easy to understand unlike most other software that I have used!

2. The developers listen to users ideas. I had a "problem" because I use Google - the "you've made a sale" emails all had the same title so were stacking on each other;

As you can see, 4 sales in the same day, but I could not at a glance see what times, who from and so on. I made a suggestion to the developers to add info to the title of each email to make them different;

As you can see this was implemented without any fuss - and make the job of hunting through lots of emails very easy! Now when emails come in, they look like this;

In my opinion, this is much easier to read than stacked emails…

3. The Cost. The cost of the service is a flat monthly fee. There are no per transaction charges (which soon add up when selling multiple products!).

Basically, everything is looked after by the guys at DPD. They host your files securely, verify payments and send download links. All you, as the vendor, has to do is collect your cash…

I always use Paypal, as that is easiest for me - however there is an option to use any of the following for accepting payment via the DPD system;

  • Paypal
  • Paydotcom
  • Clickbank

As well as these three, there are other payment methods coming online, eBay is one that I am aware of and I suspect others will be added in the future. The three already available cover 99% of "Internet Marketing" transactions.

In the future

I have already requested the ability to run an Affiliate Scheme. In other words, having Affiliates sell your products, with DPD as the central login for the Affiliate. This 1 feature will make DPD one of the best services in it's niche.

With all that said, I truly feel that DPD has the potential to be a world-class service for us AIS'ers. With a weeks free trial, why not give it a go?

The buying process

If you prefer not to try it for selling a product, then how about trying it for buying a product. In the video above, I added a really great eBook for the bargain price of $4.50 (the price of a cup of coffee). Here is the button link that I selected in the video;

Some social proof;

Hi Gary, Thanks for the transaction. The ebook is EXCELLENT.

    I recently came across a similar service supplied by e-junkie.com. Any thoughts on how the two services might compare?
