Podcasting. Any point?

Recently, I've been thinking about ways to exapnd my readership in order to get more people to give this way of working a go.

I've been dabbling with the idea of creating a podcast for a couple of years, but never really took it forward.

I'm not sure whether a podcast is quite the right way to convey the AIS message, so would ask for feedback from you guys.

Is there any interest in a weekly podcast?  Probably would be somewhere between 20 and 30 minutes long and cover 1 subject in depth, with a bit of light hearted chat and perhaps "that was the week that was", a round up of the previous weeks events in AIS-land.

I tend to find that I download podcasts and never listen to them. I definitely don't sit and watch videos on blogs or really on the web. I guess it's because I usually have music playing and I'm not alone in the room so to sit and listen I'd have to get out some headphones and faff about plugging those in.

But, you never know. Get the podcast into iTunes directory and you could be laughing.

I cant say Ive ever listened to a podcast either, especially if I have to download it first.

If there was a button on your site that said 'listen now' and it streamed straight away (www.chinesepod.com have one on the main page!) I will listen - but download it, open it, listen to it etc. Ive usually forgotten what I have downloaded as soon as its finished anyway.

I've had a decent amount of success with podcasting about affiliate marketing but you do always wonder if download numbers are equal to listener numbers!

It's a good medium for discussion based information but I've found it hard to keep a solo podcast interesting.

Thans guys - you've pretty much confirmed my thoughts. A lot of work for not much gain, I reckon.

Maybe I might do a couple and see the cost/benefit ratios.

If your goal is to convert people to the AIS way of life, you may have some success with this - where better to listen to such a thing than on the way to your 9-5 job? ;)

That's true. Maybe we might see a podcast section in the near future ;)

    El Burto,

I have China Car Times television set up ready to go, but I cant be arsed editing the video every week - and Ive got some good video so far! I bet it will be very popular but havent had the time (or will) to implement it. Maybe this weekend.
