Wordpress Expert Required

Calling any Wordpress Expert who is able to delve into the tangled codebase…I have two small jobs as follows;

  1. Link an Author to a CategoryOne of my blogs is ripe to turn into a community blog on which people can sign up as an author and then post into their own "category". Adding an author can be done manually by me, the Admin…

    So, let's say David signs up to be an Author. I will set up a category called "Davids Tales". When he logs in to create a post, I only want the "Davids Tales" category to show. No other category at all. In effect he is limited to just the one category.

    Similarly, let's say "Andrea" signs up to be an Author. Her category is "Reflections and thoughts". This category should only be available to her (for writing to).

    However, for a person reading the Blog, ALL categories are available for viewing.

    basically I need a way to link 1 or more categories to an author. And when that Author logs in to create a new post, only his categories show as available within the Categories info box.

    I hope this request makes sense ?

  2. Pay for Access to Password Protected PostsIs it possible to password protect a post but have it always available to paid up subscribers?

Cheers for any help on this - if anyone wants to quote me for the above work, please feel free to email me on oscshops AT gmail DOT com

    Burt,
    It seems to me that you don't really need categories. You can simply have everyone post uncategorized (renamed it what you like), and then create links to the authors posts. So instead of a list of categories, you have a list of authors, and clicking an author will bring up a page of their posts.

    The userextra plugin (http://dev.wp-plugins.org/wiki/Userextra) kind of does what you want. It prevents users from posting to categories besides the ones they're permitted to post to, however the user will still see all categories available, they just can't post to them.

    I've been looking at this for a client's site. You may be able to tweak the php file to prevent all categories from displaying, or have a word with the plugin creator.

    Thanks Sarah! That could be the one I need.
