The Ebb and Flow of a website
As many know, I have a vast range of products and services that I sell. One of my sites sell templates for a very popular piece of Open Source software.
I closed the site down last October, in all but name. The site is still there, the products are still for sale, but potential buyers simply can't buy them via the site. In other words, I turned off the ecommerce part.
This meant I lost a few sales, I have no doubt, but I'm not too bothered about that. I've never been overly happy with the site mechanics anyway, so no great shakes.
However, in the past few weeks, I seem to have had loads more enquiries than normal and I am wondering what has caused this. Looking through my webstats I see no real changes in visitor numbers or any extra referring sources. It's very strange - perhaps it is because of the New Year? Store Owners want a new look for their store, perhaps?
I suppose I really should turn on the site fully again - there's nothing stopping me doing that, it's just that I wanted to move the whole system away from it's present architecture, but need a good shopping cart system in order to do so. That is, something that not only has the ability to sell goods, but also run a good affiliate scheme and produce crystal-clear reporting etc etc. Is there such a script on the market right now?

Without knowing the site url or which features you are particularly unhappy with in the present format it's difficult to suggest an alternative. I am more than pleased with my shop back-end and it can handle everything you speak of. Please take a look and get in touch with the developer.
