Blunder
This morning I made a rather large error by accidently clicking on one of my own Adsense ads - big oops! Instant panic and visions of lost cash. My bloody lap-top has one of those "tap to click" mouse pads which can be a bit unpredictable - I was mortified.
I considered what to do for a few minutes and then quickly mailed them at the "contact" address available from within the "help" section within your account. I explained my error, apologised profusely and asked them to credit the advertiser. It was that or keep my head down and fingers crossed.
By lunchtime I received this:
Hello Dave,
Thank you for your email.
Thank you for letting us know about the clicks on your ads. We appreciate your honesty and your continued efforts toward avoiding the continuation of such clicks. To help you on your way, we offer the AdSense Preview Tool that will allow you to check the destination of ads on your page without the risk of invalid clicks. For more information, please see: https://www.google.com/support/adsense/bin/topic.py?topic=160&hl=en_GB
For additional questions, I'd encourage you to visit the AdSense Help Centre ( http://www.google.com/adsense_help ), our complete resource centre for all AdSense topics. Alternatively, feel free to post your question on the forum just for AdSense publishers: the AdSense Help Group ( http://groups.google.com/group/adsense-help ).
Sincerely,
The Google AdSense Team
I'm hoping this means that I've got away with it. If so, it looks like prompt action and an honest explanation will be accepted (as long as you don't do it too much!)
I'm now too worried to go anywhere near my adsense sites for fear of screwing up again! Anyone else done this?
Dave

I also have a laptop with one of those annoying pads, so to stop accidents I run adblock and try to steer clear of my own sites.

Ever tried the adsense preview tool? All it showed with me was ads from Japan.

I hate those tap-clicking touchpads. I like the touchpad, but have to disable tap-clicking.
Moral of the story: if you don't want to risk your Adsense account, don't use tapclick.

I've not done it on my own ads but I've clicked ads on other sites without meaning to. Was on the Register's site which had ads down the right and had a window on top (MSN probably). To click back to the browser I clicked in the right of the window to make it active again then found myself on a different site!
I'm not a fan of touchpads anyhow, instantly disable click and am glad my own laptop comes with a stick too.
