Christmas Advice for Website Designers

Here's a quick bone for you website designers to chew on.  If you are anything like me, you probably have hundreds of clients who you have done work for - ranging from Joe Schmoe all the way to Blue Chip Inc.  You may have done just a line or two of code, or you may have supplied a full website.  Whatever you have done in the past, it's time to remind these people that you still exist…

Send these Clients a Christmas Card

Go to your local Charity Shop and buy a load of Christmas Cards - they should be charity Cards as this helps the Charity to exist.  Next up, simply write and hand sign them…

Best wishes for a Merry Xmas and a profitable 2007.
Your Signature
Your Co. Name

This will remind your customers that you are still about, and that you are available for website changes.  It also gives the impression that you are thinking of them at this special time of year (whether you are or not is another matter).

I haven't done this for a couple of seasons as I no longer offer website design services to all and sundry, but this little nugget used to bring in many thousands of pounds worth of business in the following January, February and March.  For the cost of a card and stamp, it's got to be worth a go.

Why not try it?  If you are going to do it, do it quickly, to make sure that the Cards get to their destination before Christmas!

Strangely enough, I've just written a query to pull out our top customers' details to send to the printers! ;D

I've found the handwritten aspect is very important too- my employer used to send out printed business cards every year with very little response, but once we started getting the bosses daughter to hand write them all we received phone calls, orders, and return cards from many more customers.

Its the personal touch that does it.
