Blog? Bike? Bike Blog!
Yesterday I registered a new domain name for my bike blog - it's catchy but pertains only to the UK audience really. I have a resellers hosting account, so setting up hosting was a breeze.
I then installed WordPress without a hitch. I already had decided that my new blog is going to be one that carries major monetisation in the form of;
- Adsense
- Text Link Ads (in time, when the blog is past it's baby steps)
- Maybe PayPerPost and/or ReviewMe (again, when the blog is older)
- Chitika
With this in mind, I wanted a Wordpress Theme which is set out to be highly "click friendly" - as the new blog won't have a sphere of influence, I have no problem with maximising any income streams…I took a look at Beautiful Blogging, then decided to use `ProBlogger Clean` by Tim Yang. I have previously used this on a blog as I really like the layout and simplicity of look…
I downloaded the ProBlogger files and set it up - had a few problems but soon overcame them (mainly problems with the search page and archive page) - you have to manually create them, I couldn't remember doing this on the last blog I used this same theme for, but never mind.
So, I now am the proud owner of a new blog - this is only my third blog ever - which I have no doubt some of you will be surprised to learn. Most people in this game (adsense, ais etc) tend to have many blogs (most of which are auto-posted to)…not me, I have osWorld, another now defunct Blog, and the new Bike Blog. I don't get my kicks from writing blog posts all day, though I know that a lot of people make very good money simply from writing…
I intend to write 1 article per day about bicycling - be it a product link or a training schedule, or a personal story about biking. Come June (when I intend to cycle the length of the UK), I should have a really nice site in my portfolio.
I haven't yet made my first post in the New Blog, as I want to play around with the look just a little bit more, and also set up a feedburner feed, as well as install some widgets and what-not. Once I've got a few posts out of the way, I'll link it up.

Thanks for the link love
Wow! Biking the length of the UK - that is really cool! Are you doing it by yourself or is there a group of you?
Good luck with the site, you'll have to let us (me!) know how it's coming along

That's a great idea, in my opinion there's a strong commercial edge to the world of cycling, so you should do well. I have a similar project on the waiting list that I've also registered a domain for. Funny how so many of those domains just seem to sit around in my account

I agree - enjoying the subject also helps to keep a blog on it's toes. Should be good fun.
