The other day, a well known Internet Marketer posted into my Forum;

I bought the software a few months ago and am only just now starting to use it. Where can I download the latest version.

Fair question - could have been found by reading the FAQ, or searching the forum, but none-the-less…my reply was to link to the FAQ thread which states that they should download the latest available version from their original d/load URL, and then join the mailing list to be informed whenever a newer version comes out. Pretty straightforward instructions. This Internet Marketer then replied;

That's great, but I want to use the latest version now.

My reply was to ask whether or not they had downloaded from the original URL, and if that worked ok (I have no idea as I have never purchased the product obviously). I went on to ask whether or not they had joined the maliing list…

Obviously my intent was to ascertain whether or not this person has managed to grab the latest version or if they needed the download link reset. I could have then actioned whatever was needed. Their reply (along the lines of);

What's with the 3rd degree. This isn't worth my time. Blah blah blah.

I came back the next day and deleted the thread as it had got somewhat abusive. I then sent a message to the person reiterating the need to visit the original download link and then sign up for the notification email, and advising the thread had been deleted due to abuse of forum rules.

The reply;

Whatever man … you acted like an ass so that's why you got the responses from me that you did. If i knew you were the owner and not just someone running the forum, there is no way I would do anything with it because I refuse to do business with people that don't know how to treat others.

So, my acting like an Ass consisted of asking whether or not this renowned Internet Marketer had managed to visit the original download url and sign up for the notification. I just cannot get my head around people like this.

The Moral of the Story

There are marketers out there who are nice as pie when it comes to selling to their lists - but really underneath it all, most marketers look down on people and treat perceived underlings like crap. I've seen marketers sell shitty products and then laugh at buyers for buying the product.

My favourite line "just someone running the forum" - do your homework, you lazy so-in-so and you would have seen that my name (and ONLY my name) is on the (c) line of the product
