Forums are a waste of time
I took the decision to cut down the time I spend on Forums - I seemed to be reading too many threads rather than thinking about business and actually "doing things". Thus I dumped a number of forums, the only one that I post regularly on is the Keyword Avalanche forum and this is because it's all about business.
I'm still posting on a couple of others as well, but nowhere near as often - some forums I have dumped totally as they were an energy sink. Some forums I never even bothered joining, but lurked for a while to see which direction they were headed.
Next up is to rationalise the amount of Blogs that I read. I weeded out quite a lot over recent weeks, but intend to take the bull by the horns and really have a good clear out. Some of the blogs I subscribe to started off great, then got forgotten about by their owner. Some I am looking at as I can see they have good potential. Others I have dumped already as they are dead or just used for spamming purposes…
Bloggers: Update your blogs regularly, daily if possible, or at least a couple of times a week - doing this will retain interest in your blogs!

Agree totally,
You can get sidetracked from doing something profitable, but sometimes they are quite useful and have some knowledge guyson.
Hope that helps,
Kevin

Your right, it can be a huge waste of time. It can also be a great way to help others.
I signed up with Keyword Avalanche last week from your recommendation. It has been a great resource. I think it has already paid for the first two months in saving me money. Yet, even KA will not help me if I spend too much time reading instead of doing.
I am trying to rely on my newsreader more and read less.

I can totally agree- I have a limited amount of free time in the evenings to do what is important to me, and as much as I like all the blogs and forums I frequent none of them are making me money.
I'm just about to the point where if I can't write it during a break at work, or read it before my lunch break is over it does not get done- my uninterrupted blocks of computer "concentration time" are too important to spend on entertainment, even if its in a money making vein (and not to be mean or discount someones blog, but that's what most of the blogs I link amount to when it comes down to it).
I've gone from 5 forums and around 15 blogs a day to 2 forums and 2-3 blogs a day. (Yeah, yours is one of the few).

You're spot on (as usual!). I realised at the start of this month I had far much work to do and wanted to spend my spare time looking at AIS and not reading the 99% rubbish on forums, so I go to one forum to post on and KA to read. Then after reading a post somewhere by Yaro I realised I read too many blogs too and cut down to a 'frequent' folder in my reader. The rest get looked at if/when I have a bit more time.
Right off to post on my blog
