Site For Sale

Recently, my osCommerce Templates site had a very small feature in the UKs most popular computer magazine. The actual article was all about upgrading a website using 3 or 4 different pieces of software, eg osCommerce, Actinic, bespoke built and so on.

My site was one of a few that was right at the end of the article as "further reading". Nice! So anyway, I decided to put on an offer for the readers of that aprticular magazine to email me for a 25% off coupon - I thought that this would be appreciated by buyers and lead to more sales.

About 10 people asked for a voucher, but not a single one of them went on to purchase anything from my Store. I found this quite surprising - I wonder why a person would ask for a discount coupon, then not use it.

With that said, I am considering selling my osCommerce Templates site (it's a full-on AIS which might interest anyone looking for a product AIS to sell). I have no enthusiasm for osCommerce at all, so I have neglected this site quite badly. It's still PR4 on the index page with PR3 and PR2 internal pages, and continues to make sales every month. It's also quite well placed for SEO, example:

Search Phrase: oscommerce templates

  • Google #6 of 3.5 million
  • Yahoo #15 of 800K
  • MSN #14 of 3.9 million

Have a look around the site and if you are interested, please email me on oscshops@gmail.com and we can maybe move forward on it.

If I didn't have anything else on and if I had the inclination to get stuck back into osC then I'd be very tempted, but right now, I've more than enough on my plate and to be honest, the thought of supporting customers with osC websites isn't really appealing!

For anyone remotely interested, this site has raised just over $300 in income - and that's since this post on 05/05/06. Not half bad!

I've had a couple of offers so far, but not high enough to tempt me to sell…
