2008 - in it to win it
My plans for 2008. Should be an interesting year.
Earning Money Online
For 2008, I plan to go on with earning money via AIS - there's nothing better than earning ongoing money for little to no ongoing work. To this end, I shall set up at least 2 product selling websites each month. If these websites take off, great. If not, I will flip them 6 months down the line.
I still have a number of websites that are earning me income - and these will stay as are until I flip them.
I also plan to start up a new subscription service, this one is in initial planning stage at this moment. It won't be an AIS, but will be an Income Stream.
Forking osCommerce
I am looking at creating a fork of osCommerce. My idea is to strip osCommerce right down to it's bare bones. This means simply having 12 pages to run the whole site, and make it sexy by having semantically correct code output and updating the javascript to provide a better user experience. This will be an ongoing task throughout 2008.
Offline Business
Well, sort of offline. I'll be selling the product via a website and on eBay, but as it's a "real" product as opposed to a digital product, I call it "offline". Hope to get it up and running during Q1.
Feeds, Blogs, Forums
I deleted every feed from my feedreader, it's pretty damn pointless to read the same old, same old from bloggers. If your site is not listed on the links page of this blog, it's likely that I do not read your blog - or only read it very occasionally. Feel free to let me know of any blogs that are worth adding to that page.
My monetary aim for 2008
If I earn about $100k I'll be happy. With around 60% of that coming via AIS and 40% from "offline", this should be a good mix of Income Streams.
What I must do
Work smarter, not harder. That's the one and only change I will be making. After the problems of 2007, I hope that 2008 runs smoothly.

Regarding your fork, which version of osC will you start with?

Jared - as yet I'm undecided. If HPDL can get the alpha to a "ready"(ish) state, perhaps that - if not, RC1 would be appropriate.

Work smarter, not harder. An excellent goal. It's on my list, too . But I seem to be kicking off quite a lot of projects that I may abandon if the others give me a better return on effort.

Burt, is the decline of the USD a factor for you?
A few years ago, I would have bitten your balls off for a USD income, now I have a USD income that is far too great, Im working on building up an RMB income right now!
Also going to start charging for my services in Euros. None of this USD stuff.

Mike - starting projects and then abandoning poor performing ones is the way to go. Without starting something you have no idea if it will be a success or not. And then dumping some is accentuating the positive…
Ash - USD is killing me. Almost all my products are sold in USD as that's the currency of the markets that I am into. Assuming I'd make the same level of sales this annum, I'll probably be earning 20% less in terms of income, due the poor rate of exchange.
