Google Indexing

Is it just me, or is Google indexing sites incredibly fast at the moment?

I registered a new domain yesterday evening and uploaded a small 5 page site. This morning, I began building links to the site (social bookmarking, blog commenting etc). I just did a "site:mysite.com" query in Google, and it's showing one page indexed already (not the index page).

Anyone else noticed this?

When checking today, I noticed that the site in question (on a brand new domain) is now fully indexed…

I have noticed that new blog posts get added very fast to the Blog Search.

I can't say for sure it's just you … but lately I've seen the opposite trend. It can take days for a new post to my blog to be indexed. I even set the maximum crawl speed in the webmaster console. I probably don't update my blog often enough…?

I assumed the rapid indexing occurred when I posted a link on any of the frequently-crawled sites such as Digg, StumbleUpon, etc.
