Ooops, I did it again.
I managed to get all 7 of my broad Income Streams to contribute to the overall earnings yesterday. That's only the second time in over 4 years of earning online that this has happened!
- Adsense 11.91%
- eBooks 12.72%
- Templates 8.91%
- Affiliate Commissions 4.36%
- Script Sales 49.37%
- Subscriptions 7.63%
- Other 5.09%
As you can see, quite a pleasing mix, spread across all the streams. The actual amount earned is neither here nor there - and is unimportant for you to know, but is pleasing enough for 1 day of income as it's in excess of my daily target.
Sell your own stuff, not someone elses
You can plainly see that selling one's own products is a good business to be in. If you consider that eBooks, Templates and Script Sales contributed over 70% of my total income - these products I have created myself or had created for me.
Could you start selling your own products? It can be as simple as selling a 2 line piece of PHP code (yes, I do this), or as complicated as getting a desktop tool coded up and selling that (I also do that).
Or maybe you have graphical skills? How about offering a service like this one? Or maybe this one?
Or maybe you have writing skills. How about writing article packs and selling them, or maybe eBooks…
If you open your eyes to the possibilities that surround you, and move out of your comfort zone, you might just be able to break free of your JOB.

Your experience confirms what, in my heart of hearts, I knew all along. But I hope playing around with Adsense and affiliates on sites that recycle mods of other people's stuff will be a quick(ish) way of broadening my experience of how to set up and manage sources of revenue on the web.
I'd better remember to start working in parallel on creating & packaging stuff that came out of my own head, though. You'll know when I'm ready - I'll be knocking on your door for some graphics.

Own products is the way to go. But a good start is exactly as you are doing. I know people earning mnay thousands per month from Adsense alone - but to earn that sort of money, you either;
~ have to have a site that has 10000's of visitors daily
or
~ have multiple sites), in other words 1,000,000's of pages up online
